Level Editor Custom signs?

I’ve seen on other custom maps signs that have special messages on them that isn’t like the stock “Hole 1”, such as saying Thank You for Playing or names of the map makers. Anyone know how to do this or do you still need to just use rescaled objects shaped and positioned into letters?

As far as I know, there is no way of entering text in Workshop maps. So that leaves you with " rescaled objects shaped and positioned into letters." I haven't done it with letters, but I have made custom signs with numbers. The process is the same. Find a piece that resembles a number or letter segment. I typically use a 1x6 wall piece. Depending on how large or small you want your message, it will probably involve transforming a piece in the Editor. It will take some very finicky sizing and rotation, so most of the time I will enter dimensions in the transforming box manually. It also may help to disable the Snap function for more precise positioning. Good luck.

Darn! Was really hoping someone found a way to just type on the signs. Oh well. Makes me give so much more respect to the creators of all those custom signs now. Thanks for the answer and the tips!

Yub, it's a pain in the ass but Latin characters are relatively easy. Made the mistake to include kanji on a Torii gate for one map. You really don't want to do that... ;) But it's worth it in the end imho, it's certainly better than some sterile [whatever font] text that stands out like a sore thumb against any and everything else.
