Optimus Prime is cool as ♥♥♥♥, but that doesn't mean I want a barely legally distinct reference to him in the form of a cosmetic piece that isn't suitable nor appropriate for a game like TF2 and it draws so much focus on it that it physically hurts to look at from an integrative standpoint.
And before you say, don't give me that whole "Halloween restricted" spiel, the fact that this thing is even the game at an official capacity pisses me on a level I cannot fully fathom into this reply.
I don't hate items that have pop-culture references to them, in fact the item set for Medic in this case that's a reference to Dr. Eggman is actually a really good example because it's distinctive and subtle enough to be its own thing and you can mix and match it with other cosmetics without it being jarring to look at. This is just Optimus Primes ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ head plastered onto the Engineers body.
Love this copypasta
It's not that this game doesn't deserve any updates, it's that the updates we've been getting for the last several years haven't addressed or fixed any major ongoing issues with the game itself aside from the bot crisis a while back.
It was the bare minimum at best from Valve essentially when we know that the games entire infrastructure needs a complete rework because it hasn't been functioning properly since Meet Your Match. Not entirely going back to Quickplay 100% but something adjacent to that old system which improves on its issues would genuinely be a godsend for this games quality of life, because I'm getting sick of joining games that end or half the server is empty which has been the norm since MYM with Casual matchmaking.
At this stage, the shotty workshop items and maps are now the least of my concerns despite the bloat and degrading artstyle that's keeps getting pushed with these sloppy updates.
Lord knows what'll happen when the MvM update drops...
