In the 90s, German video game censorship was known to replace human victims of violence with robots. The results were comical, as one can see in the German release of the original Carmageddon and Command & Conquer games. Black oil for blood, sparks flying, and crunching pop can sounds for squishing. More recently, a game developed from a concept written by a 7-year-old, Called Gunman Taco Truck, featured lots of comical gore. The settings menu has a "piñata" mode, where the gore is replaced with confetti. The candy is, of course, the items dropped by the slain enemies. A "robut" mode and a "piñata" mode would greatly accent the absurd humor of this wonderful game. Stylistic gore mods would be cool too, like modern or retro alternate blood and gore sprites. Whether it's the original developer or a fan, I hope that, today or maybe someday, someone more industrious than myself might pick up on this concept and execute or explore it.
