If you might be interested in a 'halfway' experiment where you play a 'remodeled' Legend of Grimrock 1 dungeon using the Legend of Grimrock 2 game mechanics/engine, I would like to offer my mod 'The Legendary Mount Grimrock'. I tried to re-create the Grimrock 1 dungeon with the Grimrock 2 dungeon editor, and I'd like to think I did alright given there were limits due to missing assets from the first game, though obviously I had to make changes to make up for it.
