Go to the Troops section, find the Lord or Lady you want to change, and there should be a slot marked "slot_troop_age" in the 18th slot. Change the age and export the file to your save game folder, just make a backup before overwriting your current save file in case you make a mistake.
I think you can change family relations as well, I just looked and saw there are slots for: spouse, father, mother, guardian, betrothed, love interest 1, love interest 2, granted courtship permission. They will be around slots 30 to 40.
I assume changing those numbers to the corresponding unit number for the lord or lady you want in those slots would change the family relations, but I have not done it so I can't say for sure. Might cause a conflict if they have parents and a guardian, I'm not sure how the game would resolve that.
If you do this, you may want to have Morgh's or something open as well to check against the unit numbers faster. Either that or check the unit numbers before editing and writing them down for reference. Because opening and closing a lot of options to check unit numbers in the save editor will drive you crazy and take forever (don't know about Warbender).
If you use Save Game Editor, when you start the program the first folder it asks (top option) is for is the mod folder and the 2nd (bottom option) is the save game folder.
If you have other questions don't hesitate to ask. I'm not an expert but I have played around with editing saves a bit.
i have no idea, I've never really paid attention.
may depend on the mod.
even if they're not random some people might want to mod their own vision for families or "clans" into the game. I never thought about it before this topic but I can see the appeal and may try it sometime.
For ages, I know there are some mods where the daughters have ridiculously high ages for unmarried maidens. I remember seeing a mod where there was an error and the maidens had the same age as their mothers. So a mother would be, say, 43, and their daughter would be 43.
So I have no idea what the OP had in mind, but I can certainly see some scenarios where someone may want to change it. I've never needed to, but the options are there to edit if someone wishes to pursue it.
Now like i said, this isn't really a big deal or anything. It is more as a roleplay thing that i usually do in my head. Since this game doesn't have a propper story, i was creating one in my head. And having the families, ages, places, personaties and other things mixed up how i remember kinda ruins a little.
After this thread I looked at a few mods. Some mods will have some/all this set by the mod and is never random.
For Perisno, for example, Eriallen Krysanna will always be a bad-tempered 27-year-old with Krysinia as her only fief, her family relations will never change. About half the lords have random personalities, but half are set by the mod. Perisno's wiki actually shows all that stuff.
In A World of Ice and Fire mod, everyone is locked into the age, location, and family from the book or show (depending on starting option). Personalities are based on the source materiel for characters with that amount of information.
so it will depend on the mod.
I don't know about the base game, haven't played vanilla since 2012 (?).
I did go around changing the ages and stuff in a game after posting a few weeks ago. There were some Lords over 70 in a mod I was playing and just decide to make them younger and change some family stuff.
