Oh, I just asked this on the General Discussions. Why does it need an audio file? That just seems extremely awkward and unnecessary. Surely it should just put the audio and track together.

You have to own the song already, or find a source for it.

none of this makes any sense at all. its all very, very vague

Subscribing to a workshop item gives you the playable notes. You then need the audio file of the song, which you import, assign to the playable notes, and whala - you have the thing. Something to do with copyright not letting audio files be incorporated into the Workshop. It's dumb and tedious, I know, but we'll have to deal with it.
