[Solved] Gravity Gloves Object Effect
Hey, I was wondering if anyone figured out how to make something appear like it is being selected with the gravity gloves (have the same visual effect) without it actually being selected by the gravity gloves.

Just override the Asset you want with .. materials/models/hologram_fx/alyxgun_holosight_holo.vmat

Maybe this helps you and this is what you want ?

By override I assume you mean Override Material? In that case I did that and the asset is now invisible

My bad I didn't do a full compile. This works really well, but I'd like to see it further away. Is there a way to do that?

What do you mean by further away?
that you can see it from a further distance and it doesn't fade out?

I would have to try it out myself. What distances are we talking about? Do you have a screenshot or something?

It would be nice for the view distance to be as reasonably long as possible (though I understand if this is not possible). Here is a screenshot I took of the distances. I would like it at 128*10, but would at least like to get it working at 128*5.

I have not the Time to test it, but try to play with the Fadeout Distance in the Settings maybe ?

Why does it have to be visible over such a distance? A player won't even notice it because he only looks at what is happening around him

I figured it out. The material itself has a slider for fade-out distance, actually changing the value of the model in Hammer does nothing.

I did the following: decompiled the original texture using Source 2 viewer, saved the original to "Half-Life Alyx/content/hlvr/materials/hologram_fx/alyxgun_holosight_holo.vmat", opened it in Material Editor, made some changes, and saved it to my addon.
