It's not hard to generate voices that sound similar.
I see a Teladi crewwoman look & sound like a Teladi man. OK, that's weird. But it's part of the lore. The thing to focus on is that Teladi women sound identical to Teladi men and men sound identical to other men and women sound identical to other women. ALSO it's not just specific to Teladi... I'll talk to two Argon back to back, they sound identical.
There's too few voices being used and when you hear two Teladi sound the same you are weirded out. When if every race had people that sounded different except for Teladi, THEN when Teladi sounded the same you wouldn't feel weirded out, but confused. It's a big difference and increases immersion. People would question, why do Teladi sound the same, instead of now they just write it off as bad coding or too few voices.
