Although there are many games that allow 'mods', House Flipper isn't one of them. The term is short for 'modifiers' or 'modifications' and applies to things that directly affect the way a game plays or looks by accessing and changing the game's inner workings, game mechanics or code. House Flipper's Workshop is solely for decorative-only items. Workshop item creators have no access to the game's mechanics or coding. We can't link our items into the game in any way beyond putting them in the game store. None of the Workshop items have any animation or work in the game beyond being able to be placed, moved, deleted etc.
The pets in the game all have full animation, their own game mechanics and are coded into the game. So Workshop creators have no access to the pets and therefore cannot change how they look or act in any way, including making our own versions of them.
The only thing that is possible for a Workshop item version of a pet, would be like the existing animals in the Workshop. They look like animals, however they're effectively just statues.
That said... if you want a Calico cat in the game, your best chance for it would be to ask the game's developers either in this forum or on the official Discord channel. They do listen to the players a lot and Calico cats are very popular, so who knows what could happen?
Sorry for being the bearer of bad news. I'm in agreement with you. It would be wonderful for a Calico cat to be in the game. Hopefully some day :)
Awww, I figured it was something like this, it's too bad! T_T I'm so used to using nexus mods on Stardew Valley and the like where there's a lot of people cracking into the code and reskinning things + I've not used Workshop before so I didn't know what limits Steam Workshop has on things. I'll check out the Discord, thank you! I wasn't sure if they were still putting out many updates on it since HF2 is coming out soon - but if that's the case, then maybe they'll have some calicos in HF2 if asked :p
