However, I had already successfully opened TEd using the method you provided. After looking into it, I found that the issue is due to TEd saving all map data in an initial state map called "definition.xml". Do you happen to know a solution to this?
I will provide detailed information below.
I am experiencing the exact same issue as the person mentioned in the article below. (The article is in Korean, but I read it using Google Translate)
https://gall.dcinside.com/mgallery/board/view/?id=ttwar&no=885852
In summary, the situation is as follows:
When saving a map in TEd, the game crashes.
After that, when looking at the map data stored in AppData\Roaming\The Creative Assembly\Shogun2\maps, there is only a 1KB file named definition.xml saved (no matter what map is created and saved, only this one definition.xml file exists).
By the way, I have already downgraded Shogun2 itself from the following file, and I am using the latest version of TEd.

I have already tried uninstalling and restarting TEd, but it did not help.
The next thing I might try is downgrading the Assembly Kit, but does the Assembly Kit affect the operation of TEd?
"When saving a map in TEd, the game crashes." should have been "When saving a map in TEd, TEd crashes."
Mybe you did anything special on the map or put a wrong character in name of the map? But I guess there is nothing wrong with TEd necessarily
Thank you for your response!
My PC is equipped with 32GB of memory, and TEd runs at an average of about 60fps. I checked the memory and CPU usage when saving and crashing, and the CPU was below 10% and the memory was below 50%. Moreover, even if I just add an "archery_range" to the default "empty_flat" map and rename the map to "test", it crashes.
On your PC, are you able to create maps without any problems with the following version of shogun2 and the latest version of TEd?

If you can, I'm considering deleting all directories related to Shogun2 and reinstalling everything again.
