Hi, I use a very powerful thruster Mod on my absurdly huge Motherships so they can fly and I think it may help with Speed Mod.

It's very old tho still working but as usual It is always best to test Mods in a new created world before adding to your Favorite save, to learn how it works, to know if conflicting with the other Mods you use and be sure it's working.

these mods sounds alright for me, but the mod I remember applied to everything that moved, no special engines needed.

maybe the npcs crew blocks mod? theres a npc shaped seatfiller that when placed on grids boosts efficiency of certain things, (combat mobility, engineering, production) the combat mobility one kinda upgraded all thrusters on the grid
