So umm..... Is it possible to make a horizontal elevator? Not going up or down, but going front or back.
it is definately possible to make a wonky wonka-vator:)
an elevator can go in any direction in 3d space just have to ditch its control panels and use a different method:)
1 lift can be made to go anywhere

might take time to get used to it to study how vcd works then making a map is easy
average time to make a level is 3 days to maybe a few weeks or longer if its really complex
basic map not take too long a week to get everything right maybe
ask eNex they will help you
Black eagle's guide is probably your best bet to start off. Then take a look at vids and forums to get a deeper understanding. Also the community is here to help Janitor especially likes to get involved
You can also combined them and create something comepletely different.
You can swap material on the meshes again for a different result.
You can build using brushes (BSPs)
There is quite lot to it, and videos and narration are a way to go
for someone who has no experience on this field (in udk).
The reason I made videos was the required knowledge of UDK to understand
what blackeagle is trying to say.Video tutorials* don't require beforehanded knowledge
and it visualize you and tells you how to operate in udk.
* Community content, thread called tutorials.
