How to give newly added traits actual effect?

If I create a mod of more traits by editing the trait.json, how to setup actual value or effect?

Not sure but if you figure it out can you post how to do it because being able to add unique traits or duplicate existing traits but under a new name to reflect the idol would be quite cool
