All these mods...

But is there a mod/fix to get controllers to actually work? Especially for a game that claims to be made for controllers?

Maybe your controller is just not compatible, or maybe it is broken. My friend carried his old controller to school and we tried to play but it took us about a few hours of trying to get the controller to work.
(the edit is because of a spelling error)

Yeah, this game works just fine with controllers, just have to make sure everything is set up for it right and that the player that is gonna be using a controller is set to use the controller in the games settings.
