any hints regarding .mod files unpacking?
First thread was lost in void due to steam's new godawfull pre-moderation system. Thanks, Gaben

Does anyone hold any usefull information regarding .mod files structure and how to extract their content without GUTS? Thus far I've only discovered that the end of file seems to contain data regarding files affected by mod (but since there is some minor garbage in tail's output - Im unsure about format used to hold this data. xml?), but thats about it

structure is simple. but "text" data stored in binary form inside. GUTS not unpack them from "container" but translate to text (readable) form. trust me, extraction by GUTS is simplest way

well, I understand that. But the reason why Im asking is because Im trying to overcome the infamous "10 mods limit". I've asked few threads ago about the way game handles .sch mod lists, but adding new lines to them dont seem to change anything (the limit is probably hardcoded within the game itself).
So the next logical step would be to move handling of loads of mods to mod loader itself. E.g make it decompress multiple .mod files, extract data, put together according to selected mod loading order and compress into one .mod that will be included in .sch and fed to game.
I know that its not difficult to make mod compilations (that will serve the very same purpouse) with guts, but creation of such things cant be automated...

sometime it can't work, conflicts can exists. but as i remember, ppl said what ModDrop site can make mod merging automatically now.

except moddrop is proprietary software and I doubt they will ever share info about how they are doing it
