What Mortal Kombat 11: Workshop is?

What is this?
& What is it used for?
Why do we need this for the Game?

I noticed recently that my Artwork has been sent to Workshop,
instead of my Profile. It seems to be Tied to my Profile from the
Workshop, instead of directly tied to my Profile Artwork like it was
before in the Past... I dun really like this at all, o_@

I thought the Workshop was for Creating Content for Games that
had a Workshop function? Such as L4D2 for instance...

Now I am starting to really question the Workshop's Function
& it's actual real Purpose in STEAM...

If you have an answer for Mortal Kombat 11 & the Workshop,
i'd be great to know the point of this for the Game...
