Modding (maps + enemies +hangar) is this possible?

Ok so this game has a badass community of modders dedicating some time to adding some pretty great aircraft. But I need to ask ; How far are we to somebody modding maps and enemies?

I ask because it seems like no one's worked on anything like a map or enemy re-skins and I'm not quite sure if it's just not possible due to software or nobody cares. All I'm asking is if we can get both TIE fighters and X-WINGS we can get ♥♥♥♥ like desert maps or Gundam battles or even a city map for our more close to IRL jet fighters.

? IS THIS POSSIBLE ?

Custom maps and enemy aeros are possible, but only as part of custom single missions, structures and ground/naval units may not be.
