i understand why colors are restricted for ship decals (too much color could look really bad)

however as a counter argument... ship decals, if anything like WWII decals were put on aircraft to identify individual pilots and were very colorful (even ugly or offensive)

not saying we should allow offensive or ugly designs (very few seem to get accepted anyways)
but i would love to see colorful lore friendly designs to choose from...

if the transition phase really bothers people just start out allowing white decals with colored accents (with the intent of slowly phasing in full colored decals)
