Simple Autocannons.

Sorry, I guess I assumed people would want to build big. It doesn't need to be THAT small. I probably have something around 3 by 5 by 2. Also, how do I make gun barrels spin, it won't let me click the button.

For pure firepower to volume, just pepper your ship with simple autocannons, they do the job right well. The APS AA is gonna be too weak to really do anything at that volume. Also you need to specify a maximum fire rate before you can spin the barrels.

a good AA shell is a combo of flak and Frag set to largest spred

for low gauges that have a high firerate, I would suggest kinetic, flak and HE are too weak to do anything below 70mm

For longer ranges where I don't trust high-velocity solids to hit, I've been using time-fused 100mm flack rounds, with relatively narrow burst (I think 30 degrees for the widest, down to 15 or so). Around 300 m/s, fuse adjusted for -0.12 seconds.

The same thing but all HE instead of flack also works okay (without the fuse timer adjustment). Especially against soft targets like DWG.

They probably aren't the best, and they're better at crippling targets than actually killing them. But they do work.

I reckon small missiles work best. From experience, missiles hit dodgy targets more reliably than APS.

I prefer simple lasers, they're only good for like, flying squirrels or anything made of wood, but they are as accurate as your detection system is, so they''re good for small hard to hit targets, if you really wanna use aps use belt feds firing 1m long 54mm shells, add 2 gauge increasers so you can have 6 54mm barrels, it's not really that small but it will fit on most crafts.
