If you want to explore you can go to Expedition where time limit does not exist nor faint limit. You can do whatever you want. Collecting stuff, roaming around, even kicking monster at the face.

One disadvantage: Monsters can leave the area after a specified time even if you are fighting them. Literally leaving the area, disappearing. Anji just digs himself into the ground. True story.
