Where can I get the basic understanding required to make a mod?
Ok, so I know that there is apparently some bad blood in this community against people who want a "quick and easy" guide to how you should make a mod for Dead Cells.

While such a guide would be nice, that's not what I'm looking for.

I know basically f*** all when it comes to programming, which makes the instructions out there read like an arcane gribly-gok of "stand on ceiling, spin twice clockwise, recite call for Cthulu, press enter, add values, praise the Black Goat, mod done". I know what the words mean, what individual parts of some sentences mean, but I cannot, for the life of me, get it to gel in a step-by-step manner.

So instead I want to ask this: For someone that is basically coding-illiterate, where do I even learn the things that would make these instructions understandable?

And before you say "Google", understand that this is me asking what even the frick I should be googling for.

Thank you for you time.

I haven't done any modding on Dead Cells myself, but the devs have left some information within the Dead Cells Steam folder itself.

There's a ModsDoc_ within the ModTools folder, for one. It'll teach you how to access a lot of the information.

Within ModTools > Scripts > TechnicalDocumentation , there's a website with more information on the variables used.

For programming, you may want to look at CodeCademy. From what I can see of the function calls and variable types, something in C/C++ will give you a basic understanding of what you need.

Beyond these tips, though, hopefully someone can provide more info for you.
