hey brothers, this appears to no longer work. I'm just using VE and not much else, still never make it past the storyteller settings. 'next' button doesn't work. other storytellers work fine.

To everyone who is wondering about 1.5 and this mod and the collection assosciated with it. I went back a couple of pages and the mod author hasn't said anything here, all the way back to 2021. I didn't go back further than that, but it was then pages.

I just looked for the (author) tag, didn't bother with reading the comments themselves. Until or unless the author replies, consider this mod ABANDONED.

If the mod author replies, I will ofcourse delete this comment or edit it appropriately.

Sure, even for the time he was a bit more extreme, but guess what, you can like his stories and disagree with his thoughts!

People need to remember 2 things:
1. Factor in the time period (Lincoln is racist by our standards today, but back then...)
2. Remember, the work is seperate from the man!

@Unicornhoodlum Yes, he was a great writer. Part of being a great writer -is- having great ideas. Are we going to hold up every writer to the same criticisms? Stephen King, for example, was for a time an alcoholic and drug abuser. Not to mention his works early on were pretty derivative and not really holding any new ideas at all.

Oh, and if authors going on about minutiae is so troublesome I hope you never read Anne Rice or Tolkien.

@make shaving great again His stories did have a fair few problems unrelated to racism. Read one. He wont stop talking about ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ architecture. His vocabulary was limited and repetitive. Et cetera. He wasn't a great writer, he was a person with a lot of good and interesting story Ideas.

No one pretends he didn't have problems. Then again, people act like they were problems that were out of touch with his time. They weren't. Further, he was a dude who didn't like -anyone- that he couldn't keep at distance. He also commonly wore clothes that were in style a century before his time. Yeah, you can stigmatize him as a "bigoted dumbass" and ignore the reality that he was deeply disturbed mentally. In our terms, you by your tirade would be an ableist. Is that any better than what he was?

Like it or not, dude died in 1937. I won't be remembered this long after my death by so many. Neither will you. You can not like him, heck, you can hate him. It doesn't detract from his talent and doesn't make you look any better.

If anyone had a "weak mentality" it was Lovecraft, his horror stories were more often than not just him reeeeing at things he didn't understand, which given how stupid he was, was a lot of things.

Huge part of his stories just boil down to "I'm scared of minorities", "I'm scared of miscengenation", and "Someone tried to explain science to me but because I lack the constitution for math it broke my brain."
Examples of the last being his horror story about Air Conditioners, the light spectrum, or how he's responsible for popularizing the idea that "Non-Euclidean Geometry" is somehow horrifying.

Dude was good at setting a tone and making imaginative prose, but most of his writing was born out of him being a bigoted dumbass who found anything he didn't personally understand to be "Things man was not meant to know." which again, included air conditioning of all things.

His stories were directly born of him having a "Weak mentality" combined with major prose skills.

Can we all just accept that H.P. Lovecraft has never and will never be someone that those with weak mentality can interact with? He wrote some of the greatest horror stories ever written, touched on the deepest most depraved aspects of humanity, and yea he had some hateful opinions.

If you can't handle the darkest aspects of humanity you shouldn't be delving into anything Lovecraftian in the first place.
