Yes, the mech pilot helmet is a thing seperated from the mech.

The item is "mechpilothead". It's a vanilla item and this mod doesn't touch it. It's obtainable in space encounter loot.

I've been using mechs since my Starbound mods where fixed and patched and it never force me to wear the mech helmet

How could it possibly be incompatible with 1.3? Mechs were added in 1.3. This mod would do nothing in any previous version. There's nothing to be clear about.

@The Dude I'm not sure. If it's not causing a content mismatch, there are 3 possiblities: it affects your mech and others see it, it affects all mechs and only you can see it, or it doesn't affect any mechs. I'll have to test it on a server to be certain.

I'm going to guess the Avali race mod is for some reason unaffected as I always see my character's helmet or goggles when riding in mechs.

My character always wears that visor you get in the apex mission, so it was really weird to see his eyes all of a sudden. Thanks for making it so that I don't have to see that unsettling sight anymore! If I ever want that helmet, I'll just wear it the regular way.

Neat, I was annoyed by the ugly -non air-tight- helmet. A question though : will it cause a compatibility issue when playing with people who don't use this mod, or is it "vanilla multiplayer" friendly ?
