Can back up King Korihor's comment. My personal "solution" is to fire any guards that are pissed off and replace them with fresh recruits; newly hired guards are considered happy in their job, and so have fast movement. If they're already pissed, they won't move fast enough to fill their needs anyways. It's costly, but it's worth it if you have the money.

I haven't tracked down if it is from this mod or simply a problem in the vanilla game, but for some reason the pathing system used for the guards still doesn't recognize... most of the time... the food trays in the staff rooms deeper into the prison. Instead, the guards will even go into the staff rooms to meet their needs (including using toilets), but then march completely across a large prison (over 300 "blocks" or meters away) chewing up their entire break time before they get to eat. Since they are already "pissed", they also walk slower as well, thus never get to eat.

They literally walk past the food trays while heading to the opposite side of the prison.

Oddly enough, some of the guards actually do eat the food from the trays distributed to the other break rooms. This mod helps, but doesn't eliminate the problem.

I know this game is meant for you to care for prisoners, but I wish they at least had an option to take care of your own staff and had them go home while someone else took over their shift. More challenging since you have to hire more staff for different shifts and it adds more realism.

Great Mod! Thank you for creating i've had no problems with this mod at all. It is sad that a modder can do a better job at fixing a broken feature than the developers.

Try building a canteen that is not assigned to anything. Make sure it has staff in it. To do this build it like a regular kitchen: cookers, fridges, and sinks. Also check if you have other mods.

@HPenguin - it isn't working, there are a lot of food trays laying around in the satff canteen with a "Todo" but no one does nothing so my staff is starving

Jesus christ, I had 5 kitchens going to one staff room with guards on like 4 hour breaks 4 times a day -with food on the table- and they would sit there starving. Also cooks would for some freaking reason, won't restock the serving tables unless it was lunch time.
