Ive got a suggestion you should use the Halo Reach assault rifle model for the last assault rifle that has the underbarrel shotgun

alpha channel in the basetexture is used to show glowing parts, like shining dots on assault rifle or a shining visor on marine's helmet
I'm not sure the normal map texture needs alpha channel at all
