I love the stormcloaks because they have a good cause and good reasons to hate the empire. the empire is corrupt and struggling. even before the war it had serious corruption. literally, a entire legion was very corrupt and sabotaging the empire from the inside

the stormcloaks may be racist, but at least they fight for wat they believe in and for wat they know is right; freedom from a puppet government. besides, crossbows makes it more realistic because it was well used in the age Tamriel is forever stuck is

I'm not sure this is as lore-friendly as the other two versions. It makes sense for the empire to have good technology, and for bandits to have them from scavenging/killing imperials, but I figure stormcloaks would stick to a good old fashioned bow. Good mods though.

@Monkeyfeet123 Just the basic crossbow, anything else on NPCs was overpowered and frustrating. One hit kills everywhere.

Are the advanced steel and dwarven crossbows included in this mod, or is it just the basic steel crossbow?

You should make a guard variant if you can since you've already given it to the empire, bandits, and the stormcloaks. That is, if you're still modding.

@Suktor actually I am, I forgot that I am using Guard Lanterns. Sorry about that, would love to see a compatibility (not giving up guard lanterns for crossbows).

@TheyKeepOnRising Last time I checked it was working fine. Are you using any mods that alter the equipment of soldiers or guards? Something may be conflicting with it.

I completed the entire Civil War story line and did not see either this or the Imperial one work. And trust me, I killed hundreds of guys with bows, and not a single crossobow.

i think the stormcloaks should have leower percent chance 2 get the crossbow not because i dont like them its just because it would be more realistic because the stormcloaks would be less supplied than than the imperials

YAY!!! Finally, a mod that adds Crossbows to Stormcloaks. Now I can pry a useful weapon from their COLD, DEAD HANDS!!! FOR THE EMPIRE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Perhaps you could port this mod on over to nexus and have nerything in one file. Just a thought...really enoy the mod!

Wish there was 1 mod that gave bandits, empire, and stormcloak crossbows in the same mod...

crossbows are used to penertrate heavy armor. stormcloaks dont wear heavy plate armor. imperials do. logic dictates that imperials would have no need in using them or military benefet. stormcloaks need armour peircing due to imps heavy plate. so its more realistic stormcloaks use them than imps. your better off downloading the 50% spawn chance for all troops

they do download the other variant of the mod.

The imperials should have them as well for two reasons
1.It would make the battles more evenly mathched
2. It makes more sense that the imperials should have them as the crossbow is more advanced
than the longbow and the stormcloaks arent as clever. Since they are all nords the warrior race
no disrespect to the stormcloaks

Waiting for Nexus to have this!

I have had the privelege of using both in real life. It took me about a day to cover the basics of firing a longbow properly and still had to train my strength and stamina to actively use it after that. The crossbow was hell on my back but I was bullseying targets after 30 min without ever receiving insturctions in it's use. Shooting fireballs from my fingertips, sadly, is something I have not pulled off yet. As for the means to aquire crossbows. Seeing as the Stormcloaks are rebels, they probably get most of their weaponry from raids, loot and battlefield salvage anyways. Skyrim is staged in a fantasy world. Most of the vanilla game and nearly all the mods are focused on what is liked by players, not realism.

tl;dr You can always find an excuse to justify a certain faction having access to and using crossbows.

That being said; IMO Empire 60% StormC: 40% Bandits: 30% :P

PS. Thalmor are elves. Elves use bows. Period. :P

Thanks for the mod.. i know it seems silly but i havent done the War quest line yet on my charactor.. your mod will just make it more uptodate when i play thru it on the side of the STORMCLOAKS!!

@mpl2011 -- That doesn't mean that they can nesasarily grab their hands on the crossbows to supply their troops with. As the Legion goes bankrupt and has trouble funding its' ranks with supplies to keep them going, imagine how the Stormcloaks must also be doing. I thought reducing the percentage to 30% would show how the Stormcloaks are standing against the Legion's struggles.

@mpl2011 Yes but also remember that in ye olden days bows were very common, almost any farm worth it's salt would have access to one. Bear in mind that I'm not talking about war bows that took years to train up the proper strength but rather 40 lb hunting bows. Compared to crossbow who are quite complex to make in comparison although, like you said, they are several magnitudes easier to use and master.

@Hoshiyama, Assuming that the Nords involved in the fight were pulled from the general populace aka a militia, they would have no training using a longbow except perhaps hunters and even then they would use a composite bows. Crossbows are easy to train with and super effeicent.

I think that the percentage should be about the level given for the bandit version in your other mod. Stormcloaks follow Nord tradition so more than likely they would prefer using bow&arrow rather than crossbows, however there will probably still be a few that switched over. :)

If you offer these crossbow mods to the nexus I'd take all three (bandit, stormcloak, empire). Steam doesn't actually download anything I subscribe.
