@draeath could you tell me how your workshop folder is named so i can increase the range the dectector goes? would love to do that :)
LOW_Cypher 2 okt, 2024 @ 19:24
AgentX_[IBT] you have to add the mods to the mod option of the world, no mod loads automaticly once subscribed.
AgentX_[IBT] 6 sep, 2024 @ 11:13
What is the trick to get this Mod to works ?

Subscribed ..... it downloaded something from Steam ..... Started the game . Joined my friends server and then looked in the Build menu , but it is not showing the Ore Detector x6 like is shown in the pictures .
DIRTY SMITH 24 jun, 2024 @ 17:11
Works great thank you
Diamonder 28 sep, 2023 @ 14:48
Love the thumbnail, great mod the vanilla range is so low.
CrazyCody2468 13 dec, 2022 @ 22:15
for some reason i cant seem to get this ore detector mod or any others to work.
Dragonborn_1992 12 nov, 2022 @ 11:49
Small bug. Still display ores while ship is turned off (using x6). Had to manually turn the block off.
draeath  [skapare] 13 jul, 2022 @ 13:35
This does have performance implications, as I noted in the description.
TeveL_ 12 jul, 2022 @ 18:14
Attention Using any of these Detectors will Lag the ♥♥♥♥ out of you Dedicated Server if it is place on a Ship and Moved even Slightly
Druark 12 jul, 2022 @ 11:37
@Mantras, there is a bug for dedicated servers right now. Are you using the official server or Torch? Torch works fine.
Mantras 3 jul, 2022 @ 8:21
hi, my Dedicated Server Won't download your mods.
You know why ?

Other mods can be downloaded.
KeP 21 feb, 2022 @ 13:19
How to make an ore detector at 8x?
draeath  [skapare] 21 aug, 2021 @ 11:57
Примите мои извинения за плохую грамматику, я использую Google Translate.

Вы хотите посмотреть на 'Data\CubeBlocks\CubeBlocks_Tools.sbc' для '<MaximumRange>#</MaximumRange>'

Например, посмотрите репозиторий этого мода на github:
https://github.com/draeath/SpcEng_LR-OreDetect/blob/401cdbe/Data/CubeBlocks/CubeBlocks_Tools.sbc#L45

У меня вопрос! Где в иходнике изменять параметр обнаружени?! от 1200 до бесконечности
Malinko 13 maj, 2021 @ 0:23
Figured it out, some reason my mods got unloaded in load screen. It's awesome, thanks for this piece of work!
draeath  [skapare] 3 maj, 2021 @ 22:09
Should be automatic. They should show up in the blocks menu like the other ore detectors.
Malinko 3 maj, 2021 @ 19:14
This seems not to work, they do not show up in menus, do you have a "Guide" on using this or should it just load automatically?
draeath  [skapare] 12 apr, 2021 @ 18:01
You're good. I don't think I'm ever going to get rid of it properly :)
Trinity 5150 9 apr, 2021 @ 5:22
I've been using this mod for a very long time now. I hope the 8x mod stays since I use that a lot :)
draeath  [skapare] 7 mar, 2021 @ 18:07
Hey folks! I've finally gotten around to updating this mod. Please let me know if you have any trouble!

I made a failed attempt at adding localization support but couldn't work out how to get the engine to read my .resx files - if anyone has any tips please let me know.
Tmo 6 dec, 2020 @ 18:46
This mod works flawlessly very happy with it been using it for 2 years thank you so much for this.
Damocles 22 maj, 2020 @ 9:14
This mod is fully broken in multiplayer, attempting to place any of it's blocks will crash a server.
Kithsakhai 9 nov, 2019 @ 0:37
love using the 8x but it KILLS CPU cycles, SE does a ♥♥♥♥ job and over-update loops voxel locations with ore detectors.
Alanthier 24 aug, 2019 @ 23:37
on a server i play, this is literally the ONLY mod that refuses to load(or even download)
Hobbs 22 aug, 2019 @ 16:06
Just about to try it in the latest update but it has been working for me
draeath  [skapare] 13 aug, 2019 @ 18:32
Haven't gotten around to touching this game in a long while.

Feel free to take a stab at it, the mod is on github: https://github.com/draeath/SpcEng_LR-OreDetect

I do not require anything from you regarding this, do as you will with it :)
deothor 13 aug, 2019 @ 11:03
I'm not sure but I think it doesn't work anymore. It doesn't even show tiers of ore detector in G-menu :/
seronis 12 maj, 2019 @ 15:28
As of SE v 1.190.1 this works flawlessly in both local games and DS (well it works with no more bugs than Keens vanilla ore detector).

OBVIOUSLY if you have issues it means you have a mod conflict. Adjust your modlist or adjust your mod load order. Keep in mind Keen has totally crappy steam integration and mods fail to properly download/install quite frequenty for many people. Redownload mod if all else fails.
Badstorm 7 maj, 2019 @ 15:17
Works for me (somehow), the range on the detectors goes bat-**** crazy sometimes though. had it detect like 50km away, even though i turned it off. But othrwise fun, still works.
Agren Noct 3 maj, 2019 @ 22:03
Doesnt seem to work at all. No new ore detector blocks and no new ranges for existing ore detectors.
alchemy2 28 mar, 2019 @ 12:15
as in you cant unlock it or its already unlocked?
Vas 15 mar, 2019 @ 2:33
It works, just not with using the new research thing. Not sure what his issue is. :P
draeath  [skapare] 14 mar, 2019 @ 18:46
This hasn't been updated since 02/2017, so while that's unfortunate, i'm not surprised.

I hope to get back to and update this mod, but I am not committing to a date.
BIG_DICK_ENERGY 14 mar, 2019 @ 2:10
Mod isn't working. Not sure why. Experimental mod is enabled for me in the main menu but the range is still capped at 150m
Vas 9 mar, 2019 @ 22:13
I wanted to update the power usage too but a coder friend looked into it and its impossible without loading a dll into your game files so I won't be able to.
draeath  [skapare] 9 mar, 2019 @ 18:25
Appreciated. I had planned to update this mod for 1.0, but hadn't yet gotten around to it.
Vas 7 mar, 2019 @ 5:27
I released a version that contains the updated research grids and all that. :P

Could the block be made to do a slower scan? I mean, do a base scan out to base range, then stop, then scan one voxel past that point but not the parts it just scanned, then stop, then one more. Or maybe something like a laser antenna, you scan a small radius and the origin of that radius moves along a line where you set it to point, originating from a phantom projectile...heck maybe even a real in game projectile, like a probe only you don't have to build a dummy drone? Use that to scan an asteroid or a particular patch at range without scanning everything else everywhere?
RockSlice 16 nov, 2018 @ 17:46
Looking at the source code you linked at the bottom, it looks like CPU load would actually go up faster than the cube.

The variable m_queriesToIssue is a HashSet, which takes linear time to iterate based on the size. Which means that if you double the size of the HashSet, each operation takes twice as long.

So if you double the distance you're scanning, you multiply the number of queries by 8, and each query takes 8x as long, so that scan takes 64x the CPU load.

Multiplying range by 8x will result in a 262,144x CPU load...

Fixing this would probably require a big rework of how scanning works, scanning volumes in a 3d equivalent of a spiral at a fixed rate until you reached the max distance.
THE FORCE 12 nov, 2018 @ 22:03
I'm using the 8x one and it doesn't seem to be more range than the basic ones
draeath  [skapare] 30 okt, 2018 @ 18:53
... but that said, I thank you for confirming for me!
draeath  [skapare] 30 okt, 2018 @ 18:53
I was pretty sure it wasn't this one, since I'm just adding new instances of the type with some different (larger) numbers. Nothing like scripts etc.
The Nameless 30 okt, 2018 @ 17:19
Aaaand, nope. Looks like it really IS the basic ore detector that Keen somehow broke. Not that them breaking things appears to be at all out of the ordinary. :P
The Nameless 30 okt, 2018 @ 17:06
Yeah, that it is. 25 components for base, 200 for yours.

Come to think of it, I haven't tried it with your mod uninstalled. Nor have I tried reinstalling your mod. (shrug) Worth a shot. Not like I can really make the situation worse.
draeath  [skapare] 30 okt, 2018 @ 10:39
Well, that's fun. Sorry dc :(

Glad to know this is otherwise still working! Are the construction requirements still relatively matched up to stock?
The Nameless 29 okt, 2018 @ 15:54
Seems the latest update has broken ore detectors. ALL ore detectors, not just yours--it's a rare thing for an ore deposit to actually show up onscreen now. They'll tell me what's in the asteroid, but I have to go for a spacewalk to find it. =x
Hearth 22 okt, 2018 @ 9:36
i agree those fricking developers make the worst ant detectors its like they have as much range as your suit's detector but a little more.
draeath  [skapare] 11 maj, 2018 @ 15:41
I'm not sure, but yes - it does sound like a detection queue backlog may be related.

I'm afraid I couldn't tell you what exactly is going on there. As a reminder, all I do is increase the range value in the block definition - I change no behavior.
xXPredzioXx 9 maj, 2018 @ 22:00
i see but when i turn off the detector it stays till i restart the save and when i turn on nerby thous ores it show actual ore and when i turn off it show the frezed ones again but when i go to difrient place it show ore at that locations and the frezzed ones efen when im more than 50km, away can it be becos its no planet surface ??
draeath  [skapare] 9 maj, 2018 @ 19:18
I think that happens when your ore detection queue is getting long.
