It says in the description that the Polaris was the inspiration for the bridge.
There is an option in control panel to shut off the main engines.
I went close to building this in Survival mode, but for me the Zasconium/Erestrum costs were a bit steep for early Survival mode
But i agree that the core is pretty exposed. The problem though is that there is soo little space inside the ship. I just could not find another place for the core. I might however do a revamp on the interior layout of the ship, maybe remove/shrink the HV hangar and instead improve the armor and core placement.
Your best bet when fighting with this ship is probably to keep the enemy infront or above you since thats where the armor is the strongest and the core is not exposed from those angles.
Cons: TOO MUCH THRUST. You don't need that much. The generators could not keep up with it, and with large fuel cells, I ended up with 16 minutes of atmospheric flight @ 112% power and 1g of gravity. Armor issue: much of what has been used has only 1/2 full value (in other words, it might as well be reinforced steel). Only 1 layer in some places. CORE IS HORRIBLY EXPOSED. The doors used in the back do not respond to vehicles, are a large target, and the core is in the docking bay, as is the warp core. The back of the ship could use a redesign, and much of the exposed things should be put under cover. Interior is a bit of a mess. Fuel consumption is horrible.
Conclusion: Not suitable for serious PVE combat, and not at all suitable for PVP combat at this time.
Good job! Keep it up!
