That seems to be a continuity error on Valves part,as the Sacrifice comic came out later, but the chopper pilot has some lines of dialogue that makes it very clear he was bitten.

@TheLazilyInspiredOne They work together just fine in my experience, no conflicts or anything.

I would believe the mod you've posted would override mine instead. Mine replaces only the pilot's original texture. Their mod replaces the pilot's physical model, and then has its own textures applied to that. Mine would not be visible, most likely. Except the corpse, that would probably still be mine.

If I install this mod, will it override this one?

Will you remove the bite mark? In the comics it was stated that the only reason the Pilot got infected was because of the survivors being carriers.

The survivors infected him because they're carriers. In The Sacrifice comic it's heavily implied that's how he turned.

Nah, he still has his original low detail textures, should you see him as a pilot, corpse, or a L4D1 Fallen Survivor. This mod will replace those

he actually didnt get bit. its just being near the survivors is what infected him because they're carriers.

No reason to upscale to 4k. It already quadrupled from x512 to x2048 res. If I doubled it again there's nothing new I could add save for overlaying some fabric or leather textures, and that really isn't necessary for something that isn't a First Person arm or weapon.

Are you going to update it with 4k this coming Christmas?

@Imma grey, it's thought that the pilot was bitten during a street pickup. The pilot was trying to save any survivors he could find. In the No Mercy finale just before the first Tank he says "Mercy Hospital. Gonna be running a bit late. I just had an... an incident. News Chopper 5 out."

Unused dialogue that was meant to branch the No Mercy and Blood Harvest read (several lines here): "None of you happen to be a doctor, huh?" "I tried a street pickup. I should have known better. I think... I think I got hit." "So you're immune right. I hope I'm immune." "Could you pass me a first aid kit?" "I'm... getting really cold... I'm- (starts to choke and growl between words)"

So in favor of referencing the No Mercy pilot being bitten, I added a bite mark. The pilot's model is reused in Dark Carnival, still works because he turns and gets killed too.
