Hmm, well making the shirt white is easy. The original model has a white shirt after all. But the grey skirt could be a bit of work. I'll have to see if I can find a good way to implement that.

It's like this model but the shirt she's wearing is white (maybe a little dirty 'cause ya know, it's the apocalypse,) She has a short grey skirt. Same facial features and hair. And that same tie.

I have little experience with Source, but perhaps you want to change the $alphatestreference value to 0.5 to see how it fares between 0 and 1. If that doesn't help you may have to revisit your alpha map.

I think the Origins Zoey uses both with translucent on top and alphatest behind it. I tried to replicate this but must have put the meshes too close together.

Hmm, since you seem to to know quite a bit about this, maybe you can help a bit more. I've thought about it a bit more and I think this is the issue I'm actually facing: https://developer.valvesoftware.com/wiki/$alphatest#Caveats
$translucent is currently used but causes the described problems. $alphatest solves those problems but looks like crap in terms of quality.

@Zetnus, if you create the hair cards and just have the polyfon faces facing outwards, the engine should naturally render double-sided for hair as this is how Zoey's hair works by default. I'm not sure about the importing of a custom mesh and skeleton into source, but if there's a check-box option for anything mentioning 'Double-sided' or 'Back Face Culling' check the box :)

Ah, well that explains it. I was trying to get the texture to be visible from both sides, so what I did is duplicate it, scale it down by 1%, and then invert the normals. Clearly that was not the correct approach. I don't know how to actually get the textures to display from the opposite sides though; I though that’s what I was doing. I'm a noob at stuff like this.

@Zetnus Ah yes, if you inverted the mesh perhaps the hair cards have reversed normals, which will definitely cause some issues. If you're using a modeling program like Maya or Max, it's most commonly represented by a slightly darker colour when you select a mesh's polygons. If the selected polygon is a darker tone than others then it's definitely flipped and will cause issues.

@MIWI - I duplicated and invertedd the hair mesh to help deal with the issue I described, but doing so is probably the cause of the issue that you described :P

@Zetnus Sometimes when the hair cards that make up the physical 3D mesh of the hair are close together, or overlap one-another, some engines can have transparency issues. It may unfortunately take another dive into the mesh to see if any possible clean up can be conducted :)

Hmm, I know that weird things can happen with the hair when it is silhouetted against a bright light or fire... it's because of the way the alpha is rendered. I'm not sure how to fix that.
