Oh wow, this chamber! I spent over 2 hours on it, had the self-powered cubes down within minutes but couldn't work out how to keep the lasers on with the laser blocker switch activated. Needed to look at the comments. I won't deny I felt like giving up multiple times. I'm usually pretty good with logic puzzles, but complex laser puzzles in portal always give me trouble XD. My one regret: When I did finally align everything (I ended up using amieres method), I didn't screenshot from the walkway above :,(. Fantastic puzzle though. I'm just frustrated as, with most laser puzzles, I start off just fine and then the final step often eludes me. This was the first chamber ever I had to look in depth at the comments to find out the solution so far as I can remember, and even then it still wasn't easy, (I've looked in the comments for hints before but not actual solutions XP)

This was one of the more complex maps that I encountered. Beautiful. Excellent use of logic!

In my solution each cube uses its own laser to power its own catcher, except when the panels are raised in the end, then the last cube powers the first cube through the portal .

@amieres: Well the trick you used to make self-powered cubes was the main mechanism to find in this map I think, so even if the final pattern is not the expected one you probably made it using the intended method ^^

Thanks, this puzzle was one of the rare maps where I started building without any idea of what solution I wanted at the end X) Then I tried to "enforce" the weird solution I found...
But I believe this kind of map is not the best one, if you don't get the trick you may never figure out the solution and give up ^^"

I've had this on my queue for a long time. I gave up before, but this time I drew a diagram and got it pretty quickly. Very cool concept.

I actually used the fourth cube to complete the last side of the puzzle, so it didn't quite make a perfect logo.

I used to build maps about any new concept I could think about last summer ^^ Now I don't really have time to continue this way... And I'm satisfied of those I made for now ;)

I'm working my way through Logical Maps now, as those are the types of puzzles I prefer. So far, I've seen a few gems, while the rest are so-so, but no duds. That's a pretty good track record for that many maps.

I'm not a fan of laser puzzles in general, but this is so logically and aesthetically pleasing that I've added it to my collection of Favorite Puzzle Maps . Best use of the Aperture logo in a map I've ever seen.

Thanks for testing ^^ I have a new idea that ends a similar way, but including reflection gel ;) But I wait for carl's version of the "clean style" reflection gel droppers for that ^^

This chamber is really ingenious and I was not able to solve this...after some hours of trying I gave up and looked at the solution...it's one of the harder puzzles I ever played!

@BooBees : Well I assume this is more a "get the idea" map that a real "think with portals" ;) To be honest I wanted the final drawing and tried to build a puzzle around it to force the player to do it... So the I found the final solution a bit randomly while playtesting XD

So your opinion is well founded : sure this is more try and fail 'cause I found it just while trying randomly X)

Anyway if you want a more challenging logical puzzle, I suggest trying the map Bugs in the System ;)

But maybe all my chambers are too much "out of the box"...

Hmmm, nice Idea but I didnt liked it. These kind of chambers aren't my type... sorry. It's more frustrating than fun and more try and fail than logic imo. Nothing to combine, nothing to do... just get the lasers right without destroying your cubes with ur lasers, blarb... but just my opinion. (:

Hem this map is made with PeTI editor, not Hammer... But I also published some maps compiled with hammer and it worked perfectly ^^

i tried hammer once, then it broke, then i gave up and made maps like this, i think what happened was steam moved a few things and it couldn't find the save but it could both save and load IN HAMMER but no IN GAME. now to try the puzzle!

Well this one was heavy; I couldn’t solve it how to go to the bridge. Seeing your demo I saw how stupid it was. Trying to use the last Cube….

About the .dem files, it would let you record it later if you didn't have the time at the moment. Too bad about hammer though...

And about Hammer, I don't know how to use it correctly for the moment : I'm currently trying to bypass the item limit with Hammer, but that's not so easy...

Well, the way to "record" things using the console exists, but this will record demos, not videos. A demo (or .dem file) is only readable by the game itself and will recreate all your actions the same way you did them during the record ^^

I don't think so...I've heard about a developer console command for recording things. I'll look in the discusions and see if I can find it.

Ok if you don't get the "hint" in description, the idea is that the lasers will draw the logo of Aperture Science when seen from the top of the map ^^

And if you got it but don't see how to do it : the solution I found (yeah I built the puzzle without being certain that there was a solution XD) was a bit tricky and used some cube replacement...
