@jaffa mod is outdated and not maintained. as far as i am aware items should work in game fine

i seem to remember an issue with CUP... but i cant remember what it was...

also updates might have broken something

arma got so bloated my old rig could barely run it anymore, ive not been able to maintain this for years, if its genuinely broken by changes i'll see if i or someone alse can update this

when i try to load this mod, it creates a signature mismatch for every mod running on the server. Anyone know what I could be missing here? Never seen this happen before!

thanks mate, i really enjoyed the drawing work and the stuff i learned making arma mods has been real helpful in other game modding and projects so its not like its time wasted

i do agree about the advantages of the reskinning approach for a mod like this but after success making a robot head i ran into endless issues doing the body:

the VR suit would be perfect for this but has a non working hidden selection

the base body i did a basic version of but there are asymmetries added to mesh to make body look more organic which played havoc when making robot textures for them

i can upload a dropbox link to the forum post which has the test version of the mod but i can't find the actual image source files. this might be enough for someone else to take on the project as the head and fore arms look decent

That's a big shame, i've seen some really interesting examples on your bohemia forum post. My mates were also really impressed. It'd be really awesome if you would share with the public the things you did manage to complete. But alas that was from 2019, so you probably dont have those files anymore.

I also disagree on them having to be 3D, their texture based nature would make it very easy to adapt them into various gear and uniforms, and would minimize the clipping & weightmapping issues of a new 3d body.

Either way, arma modding is a nightmare and i can't blame you for not wanting to deal with it. I would be happy to see you return when arma 4 becomes a thing, your texture work is rly impressive.

unfortunately yes, i have stopped modding for arma. i kept hitting technical issues with game assets (like bugged hidden selections) which meant i had to scrap a few attempts i'd put a lot of time into and ultimately the fun/rage ratio wasn't great for a hobby.

plus since recent DLC performance and lag has gotten prohibitively bad running arma on my system :(

ultimately what i was aiming for the FrithsRobots would be much better achieved by creating new 3d assets rather than my re-skinning approach

the licence should allow derivatives, especially as i've released the source files, i think i've got the wrong licence there... duh... any idea which one i want for a abandoned open source mod?

@in005 yeah for sure, the source files is there for the using under the share alike license, so they good to use for any arma 3 modding just not for money and credit them somewhere. It was fury road and mad max game that got me started drawing them ;) some of the files might be a bit disorganised and all are for GIMP, pm me on BIforums if you need anything
