My grandpa was there. He was about to get on the bridge just before it collapsed.

What a map ! At first I thought it "did no look pretty", but that old adage, don't judge a book by its cover applies here. In game play with AI (don't know if this applies to MP) the entire map comes alive. Everything seems to be placed and balanced for tactical game play. Good stuff.

It was a military bridge that was covered with wooden planks to allow vehicles to cross the bridge. YOu can see this dual purpose construction (and the road) here: https://www.ibiblio.org/hyperwar/USA/USA-E-Last/img/USA-E-Last-p224.jpg

being the realism nazi i am i have to point out one useless fact.
you have a road leading to the bridge but it was a railway bridge, it didnt have a road.
havent played or downloaded the map though so i cant really say anything more

Thats not possible. I have already explained why.
So i have to disagree. Sorry.

you should make the bridge crossible without putting either one of the spawns there for iconicness
just saying

I will quote my self (2 posts down) "why should i add the other bank/river side? The river will take most the map space. There is only one brigde and it will end in a boring and stupide frontal barney. Adding the other river side wont bring any befenit for the map at all."
THE BUTCHER 10. juni 2016 kl. 15:41
nice map,, can u make it with whole bridge? so they have to cross it...woild be really cool....nice work!!

GOOD MAPS++++++++++++++++++++++

Well. I can create the "real" Remagen and try to rebuild it like in reality OR i can try to make a version that will look like Remagen (try to get a general layout and some iconic positions) but will be fun to play ingame. It is difficult because it is a strategy game and not a simulation.
E.g. why should i add the other bank/river side? The river will take most the map space. There is only one brigde and it will end in a boring and stupide frontal barney. Adding the other river side wont bring any befenit for the map at all.

I live near at Remagen,I miss that other bank of the Rhine on the map. and the Town Remagen is a typical old German Town to this Time.
anyway thanks and good work.

:critical:A real Suprise !! I was planing already to make a Map for This importand part of ww2 (but with bouth River-Sides ) ,but it seems someone was faster :)
Looks realy nice and you have my Vote. I can see : you was realy trying to make the Bridge like in real - i could not make it better !!! In this Case ,i will do another Project....

Greetings :german: Orklord

Compared to the real life representation, the bridge was on the outskirts of the town and the side that the allies approached from was mostly rural farming land which gave way to the twin large ramps which fed up to the bridge and then on the other side of the river where the mountain was, the primary part of the town was on that side.

There was a small warehouse/train station/military outpost on the Allies approach right at the base of the bridge but other than that, the approach itself was pretty open. If you wanted to include most of the buildings of the town, they were densely clustered to the left of where the bridge is as the town mirrored itself across the river.

Here's a view of where the town would be compared to the bridge:
