So there's a bug or something where when I unlearn a skill, and try to learn the same skill of a higher rank, it just won't let me do it. It makes the "click" sound and won't learn it. That really kind of kills the whole thing, when you can't use the skills in the later game that you had been in the early game. I statted up shotgun mastery and practically depended on Rapid Fire and now I can't use it? This bug makes it completely unplayable past act 2....

@matex, I think, vanilla ones only
Matex 2016
which classes skills are buyable?
Vanilla ones or modded ones as well.
I will try this, but I think occasional potion, scroll, socket gems, and items would be nice.

I'll repost with my findings!

Bad idea, HeyPinkiePie. You should always play the vanilla game first, so that you have a baseline of comparison when you play mods.

Never played tl2 before and im gonna start my first game with this mod. Lets see how this goes xD

I originally did have sparse potion drops in chests and champions, but it still wound up giving out too many. I instead changed potion drops to give you extra gold so that you are, in effect, given more potions, but you still have to go back to town to buy them (and not die in the mean time). Finding potions in the wild gives you some relief and makes you feel a little bit of hope that you can hold out a while longer. I want players to be constantly fearing running low on potions and losing their gold. ABANDON ALL HOPE, YE WHO ENTER HERE. Or something like that.

Charge Mastery, Frenzy Mastery and Charge Domination. I bet EVERY build here will have those 3 maxed ASAP :P. Anyway, I am having great fun, it's challenging in a good way (although i'd add a very sparse potions drop). Thanks for a good work!

I just hit level 15, and I'm loving this mod. Granted, it can feel a bit grindy if you lose your gold and need to upgrade your gear, but I've had a lot of fun actually playing. I feel like I can really make each build unique, as I can pick from any of the skills now. Thanks for making this!

this sounds pretty awesome, going to redownload torchlight 2 to try it
Thanks for the reply Tomato-_-Salad. To be honest the rewards will not be that important if I can get the gear anyways. Unless there is special rewards not available in vendors. See I really like the idea of the mod, adds a new flavor to the game but I was disappointed to see the class system.

I wish you good luck with the mod and I am glad to see you take time to respond to players :)

The reason for having 4 seperate classes is to allow you to choose your starting equipment and stats, and to influence quest rewards. If you choose Engineer, your class rewards will contain mostly 2h melee weapons and canons, whereas if you choose Embermage, your rewards will contain elemental weapons like staves and wands. As for replay value, this mod doesn't limit you to one class, it gives you access to all 4 classes and all of their skills at the same time. If you do the math, you'll find that the amount of options for builds have increased exponentially. The respec potion is a "quality of life" thing that encourages players to experiment with different builds as they progress through the game. It will also be nice to have in the event that changes are made to skills. If the respec potion bothers you, there are plenty of other ways to spend your hard-earned gold.
What's the point of having 4 classes if all of them have the same passives and charge bar? Limiting it to 1 class and having the respec potion are killing the replay value of the mod.

this feels/sounds like darksouls for torchlight

I highly doubt that this mod will be compatible with Synergies or other overhaul mods simply because of the sheer amount of things that are changed, but I haven't tried it to see. I can try playing around with it for a while and see if I can get them to work together, or perhaps release a separate version that incorporates Synergies at a later date. I can't make any guarantees. It will also depend on how I feel Synergies impacts the balance of the mod. If I don't think they work together I likely will not release that version. But again, anyone who is willing and able may use this mod and make changes to it as they see fit. If someone out there wants to combine the two before I get to it, feel free.

i hope this mod will be compatitable with synergies mod.

Ok, I was slashing in elite a bit and must change my mind: it is easly playable, mostly couse of really strong items in the shop and as a rewards. This mod truly brings a lot of fun to the game :) I'm wondering, from where did U get that new items, their pictures and stats? Some of them I recognize from Torchlight part 1, and the stats are really interesting, like x% of dealing elemental damage or that crazy sets from 10 parts...
I play on Veteran, so I couldn't say for sure. Veteran is challenging without being overly frustrating, but I'm guessing if you were good enough, or if you kept some items in your stash from a previous character, you could manage the difficulty of Elite.
I have no plans of adding a gold deposit option as it would sort of nullify the point of losing your money on death, but I'm sure there are mods out there that can do something like that and you're free to mod your game how you see fit.
This mod seems to be little crazy ;)
a) Is there any sense of playing it in elite? I mean isn't it too hard?
b) Do You (author) think about adding an option of deposite the money to an save-bank like in diablo 2? It would be less masochistic to play this mod :)
Though I relaxed the weapon requirements on many skills, there are still several that requier at least some kind of weapon to be equipped. I'm fairly certain that pets will not be able to use these skills as they can't equip weapons, and that's kind of what I intended. I wanted pets to be able to use support spells, but I didn't want pets to have access to some of the more powerful attack spells as people would be tempted to sit back and let their pet do all the work for them.
pets can learn active skills too! however, are there any weapon limitations for some active skills if i let my pet to learn them?

and, some comments, this mod makes torchlight looks like dungeon siege 1 - use active skills from equip active skills without any class limitations.
There are 6 levels of each skill scroll. They will become available at the vendors as you approach the required level to use them. Level 2 is equivalent to rank 5 in the skill, so this will start becoming available around character level 14 or 15.
how can i upgrade active skills? just simply buy higher level one? i just start this mod not long.
hmmmm
well it makes the game more like the old Diablo
(run out of mana? Well you better hope that one monster drop a TP scroll)
Pets not going to town was necessary to make resource management an important aspect. With pets not being able to go to town, it makes town portals more important, and it keeps you from being able to stock up on potions and scrolls whenever you want.
And since items do not drop from monsters, you don't really need to send your pet to town to sell things for you anyways. I do understand that pets were a very important part of vanilla Torchlight, but I feel they don't fit (at least that particular function) in this new rendition.
I think the whole "Pet's can't go to sell" is quite a bit of the game's function sliced off
what a challenging mod
