1- In your showcase video you stated an interest in making blocks able to tuck right up under the disk, next to the suspension part. Maybe by having the hover drive built as two blocks, like rotors do. The suspension would be hand placed, and the disk auto-populates from there, as per rotor.
2- You also expressed an interest in lighning effects around the disk. Perhaps talk to DarkStar about how they achieved a similar effect on their shield generator modded part.
Less of a suggestion, more just spitballing ideas here, but what about setting up a large invisible wheel collider and soft suspension, to simulate a "ground effect" when near terrain. Also possibly setting up thrusters so each disk has some forward and backward thrust, allowing each disk to have some thrust vector control.
