Looks like something broke in a recent update, blocks disappeared and I cant find it in my selection window, this was one of my favorites for turning gravel in to something useful </3

When implementing this mod, other blocks vanish, when constructing a ship or a station

Hey, i got a little problem, i am using this mod on a server rn and i cant use the Conveyor system with the reactors, is this a me problem or does anybody else have that too?

To be clear, if i set 'Use Conveyor System' to On then it switches to off after a few seconds
so it technically can use the conveyor system, but i have to reactivate it allways...

Any Ideas?
jetblade545 10. feb. 2021 kl. 21:03
works just fine
chrisw 20. dec. 2020 kl. 13:01
any idea why this is no longer working?
Timfa  [ophavsmand] 27. juli 2019 kl. 3:46
@ThisIsOli It should look similar to a normal reactor icon, large grids only. If it really doesn't appear, it might be because the mod hasn't been updated since 2015 or so and something in the game finally changed to make the XML load incorrectly.
ThisIsOli 25. juli 2019 kl. 21:28
This isn't appearing in my list of available modules, am I missing something?
Timfa  [ophavsmand] 22. apr. 2019 kl. 15:06
@8vantor8: It should! It's just an XML edit off an existing object. If it doesn't, though, please let us know!

@loremaster: I only did stone because this was aimed as an interesting solution to the Stone Crusher mod that produces a little bit of all metals; you end up with huuuuge piles of stone filing up your cargo.
8vantor8 21. apr. 2019 kl. 13:38
does this still work? -2019 april 21

Love this mod. Save me from building a huge solar array. Thanks!
The Nameless 25. mar. 2018 kl. 15:16
Why stop with just stone? Why not set the assembler up to process the trace thorium out of *any* ore? I'd especally like to be able to chunk iron ore (which I no longer need since I salvage vast amounts of scrap metal from dead pirate ships) in it for something useful instead of just switching my spherical gravity generator to high reverse and chunking it out of the external connector.

@aceacs123: Yeah, wouldn't be that hard even.

If you browse to your workshop files (after you've loaded a world with this mode enabled) it should be there in a folder, with the name of a series of numbers (Sorry I can't be of more help, I think it's "560423979"?) .
There's a few files in there, one of them describing the reactor. Opening that up, switching it from the custom Thorium to Ice (and cutting out all the thorium-related files) should give you the exact mod you want.
It sounds complicated here, but I promise it's child's play once oyu actually figure out where the mod is stored xD

If you've made the edit and want it up on the workshop, feel free to upload it. This took me less than half an hour to make, it's a very basic edit.
Timfa  [ophavsmand] 14. aug. 2017 kl. 14:27
@Roulette: Yep! Using it myself :) It doesn't use any fancy scripts, so it'll probably work forever. I'll be sure to update it if it doesn't.

It doesn't have a custom texture though, but I haven't a clue how to do that. The build texture looks purple-ish for reasons I don't understand. Beside this, no issues whatsoever ;)
TheRoulette 14. aug. 2017 kl. 10:22
Does this still work properly? It hasn't been updated in a long time.
Spades 1. juli 2017 kl. 16:24
could you do something like this for ice as well?
Timfa  [ophavsmand] 30. aug. 2016 kl. 10:49
@Astralchild
Good to hear it's working after all :) Let me know if you find any other issues!
AstralChild 27. aug. 2016 kl. 7:52
no idea why it didnt work yesterday on the dedicated server. i restarted it tiday and it seems to be fine now. thx for the quick response!
Timfa  [ophavsmand] 27. aug. 2016 kl. 4:28
@AstralChild
I didn't chnge anything in the mod lately, but I'll try testing to see if a change in the gme itself broke the mod. Let me know if you find anything else :)
AstralChild 26. aug. 2016 kl. 18:21
well. its seems to be broke. a wek ago i did still consume gravel through my throium reactor at station, now the reactor seems not to accept the resource anymore. has something changed?
z22y 10. juni 2016 kl. 16:51
Maybe you could make a special assembler for thorium.
BenBaa 10. maj 2016 kl. 7:50
@Timfa,

sounds good to me :)

Sorry to hear that your computer isn't operable, I hope you'll get it up and running soon.
There is no hurry with that generator. And yes, the mod works as intended (getting rid of gravel, just a tiny bit too slow).
Yuxtapuestoelmono 9. maj 2016 kl. 15:05
Ok then, thanks a lot!.
It is a very useful manner for getting rid of excess gravel and gettingenergy also.
Timfa  [ophavsmand] 9. maj 2016 kl. 8:04
@BenBaa

The modis meant to get rid of excess stone in a productive manner, but I have to admit I didn't quite expect someone to gather that much xD

My PC isn'toperable at the moment, but I'll see if I can make a large version once it's repaired. It's a busy period for me at the moment though, so don't expect it soon :(
BenBaa 6. maj 2016 kl. 20:43
Very nice mod, good work!

would it be possible to add a large version with something like 30-50MW of power? Right now I am using arund 50 of the small ones, still I have more than 1k of Thorium in storage.
Yuxtapuestoelmono 12. apr. 2016 kl. 19:21
how many Kg of thorium can it hold per slot?.
LtKillPuppy 18. feb. 2016 kl. 21:26
Thumbs up to Thorium reactors, in general!
Timfa  [ophavsmand] 14. jan. 2016 kl. 10:02
@TokMor Erm, oops? xD
I'll reduce both input and output in the recipe by 90%, and attempt to balance out the build time as well, so it'll be usable on x1 inventory. Should be up later today (depending on timezone I guess)!
TokMor 13. jan. 2016 kl. 16:04
Hmm, one issue I did find though... an assembler can only hold 2.7k gravel on X1 inventory. Any chance you could make the assembler recipe 600 gravel for 0.1 thorium?
TokMor 13. jan. 2016 kl. 15:53
Thanks for the explanation. I did some testing to see just how much, and at first I was quite worried when I saw this (8 years of power from 1 unit of thorium)
http://psteamcommunity.yuanyoumao.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=599966768
But, I think the game just can't properly handle modded power sources properly at present. I put 1 unit in, left the power draw at 1MW for quite some time, and divided the consumption by the time. It looks like 1 unit of thorium provides 2 megawatt hours worth of power. For comparison, 1 large ship battery can hold 3 MWh of power, so I think overall this is a quite reasonable amount.
Nice work on the mod!
Timfa  [ophavsmand] 13. jan. 2016 kl. 13:19
Also @Frankfooter: Added it to the title and description too, thanks for reminding me :D
Timfa  [ophavsmand] 13. jan. 2016 kl. 13:18
@Frankfooter: Of course, DX11 FTW (until DX12)

@TokMor: The way the game handles output and consumption is pretty weird; you can't really choose how much power one bit of fuel provides

Basically, you set the rate at which the resource is consumed, which directly influences the output power. As such, I had no way of ensuring a low power-output and a high consumption rate.
As such, if I were to set the consumption rate equal to the uranium consumption rate, it would provide equal output, which we don't want.

A uranium reactor outputs 15MW. A thorium reactor outputs 1MW. that's 0,066..~%.
This means that Thorium consumption rate is also 0,066..~% of uranium consumption on a default reactor.

One bit of Thorium is made out of 18000 bits of Gravel. At first, I wanted it to consume gravel directly, but since I couldn't control consumption rate vs output directly, I chose this method to indirectly consume Gravel at a ridiculous pace.
TokMor 13. jan. 2016 kl. 9:43
How many watt hours does 1 unit of Thorium provide in the reactor? Or a less engineery way to pose that question would be: How long will the reactor run at full output if 1 unit of Thorium is placed inside it?
mrunuick 12. jan. 2016 kl. 17:56
Am i correct in assuming this is fully compatible with DX11? (based upon the mention of planets in description)
Timfa  [ophavsmand] 4. dec. 2015 kl. 8:50
@mc crow That's exactly what I need :D All I really want to do is replace the text "Nuclear Reactor" on the gridblock with "Thorium Reactor". (when in game world, not in the inventory)
mc crow 4. dec. 2015 kl. 7:30
I think I know how to add your texture to a block ( as in grid block) don't know for the item though.
Cisien 3. dec. 2015 kl. 21:18
Excellent way to start off on a planet, thanks for this!
lazurkri 23. nov. 2015 kl. 13:33
Interesting approach to giving people some form of nuclear power when Uranium on planets can be a royal pain in the ass to find...
