Gud biwd :)
Now how about the 'Dragonfly' version that Clarke preferred? The one with the big radiator arrays at the back, that Kubrick was convinced would be mistaken for wings or sails.
I loved the movie, and I think it's awesome that you're making this replica. Have you seen this mod ? It might help you make the rotating habit section more easily.
HAL: Affirmative, Dave. I read you.
Dave Bowman: Fix the gravity, HAL.
HAL: I'm sorry, Dave. I'm afraid I can't do that.
Theres nothing for it but to either:
1. reduce the rpm and ignore the fact that the rate of rotation is too low to simulate the level of gravity the generators provide.
2. reduce the rpm and reduce the gravity to match and ignore the fact this dosen't match the apparent habitat gravity level seen in the film.
3. reduce the rpm and make the centrifuge and sphere larger than shown in the film to allow for the same level of gravity at lower rotation.
Trust me on this, I've done a lotta experiments on using spin habs in SE having stopped using terrestrial sea-ship style deck layouts completely. Its a tricky but fascinating business.
I just updated the Blueprint. The interior is intact and functional now.
Thanks for the Eye idea, but I found textures for the monitors that go on the viewscreens that I will use for that. I really want to keep this a blueprint, and adding stuff with landing gear would be deleted in a blueprint.
