Creator's steam is dead, which is a shame. The scythe could use a lifesteal buff. 2 or 1 health per hit for a 100 health character with no other gimmicks is pretty weak. 5 health per hit would be an adequate change.

Maybe make him regenerate health during night and lose sanity during day, and shadow creatures touch him less

Have you thought about one of his 2 friends, Nocturne? I think it would be an interesting concept, maybe a Webber-like execution, but being able to befriend some shadows or something? Something with darkness or shadows. Maybe being able to not die in the night or I dunno :P
