It is built into the editor. This effect will work out of the box if it gets added into Team Fortress 2 without needing any additional scripts.

Maps have so many different lighting conditions. We tried to make it optimal in most lighting conditions. This does mean that both effects will be seen at the same time in specific transitional areas. We minimised that by greatly reducing the color saturation on the effect. For this kind of effect, the only way to make it fade faster is to lower the lifetime of the particles. Unfortunately doing so will make the effect lose its shape.

In short: No. We were very limited in what we can do.

Could you make it so it fades faster? Cause at some points during the transition we have both effects at the same time. Maybe different shape for the horns as well? Cool idea otherwise, very... unusual.
