I use both tbh, i didnt realise rimsort had the functionality to do that though so ill take a look at it.

Thanks again for the help and the mod!!

@Briggs, good to hear!

The mod first tries to load any dds file that was found. If that succeded, nice, nothing to do. But if the loading failed, then the mod will look for if there is a file with the same name but the extension ".png". If it exists, then the png is loaded.

A dds file has a layout that can be easier interpreted by graphics engines. When you load a png, it has to go through a few setup steps (e.g. mip mapping, streaming compression) which takes time. If you don't care about the start up time, then there is no need to convert to dds.

Have a look at RimSort. RimPy is not developed anymore, and RimSort has more features.

Thank you for this. been having this problem for a few days now and this has sorted it right out.
Tell me if im wrong but if u pair this with rimpy, and convert textures, it will convert them to png incase the mod hasnt added them?

Ah, okay - I just noted that because you noted that mod as having the problem in your last post. All good then!

The "World Map Beautification Project" submods don't have that problem, but other mods do.

That is not correct, I use "World Map Beautification Project - for Realistic Planets" and used the "Delete all DDS files" after I found that X issue and then regenerated the files and it works perfectly?

You can (and probably should) use RimSort to optimize the images, though, if only to reduce the loading time of RimWorld. But in some circumstances my mod might still be needed. E.g. with the h "World Map Beautification Project" submods. :)

@Halicade, that does not work for the example in the preview image, though: "World Map Beautification Project - for More Vanilla Biomes" and "World Map Beautification Project - for Realistic Planets" already have .dds files. RimSort won't automatically overwrite existing files, and if you click "delete all dds files", then some files will be missing, because not everything is there as a .png file.

I'm confused. Can't you just optimize the textures using Rimsort/ToDDS to fix the red x's?

Wow, a gem appeared out of nowhere
