Maybe make it to where the targeted grid comes apart in large chunks instead of from every block? That would definitely help make everything a lot more stable

random suggestion

early gen warheads ig, all small grid ofc

SFP-1: a early gen shock fracture warhead, designed for precision strikes against ships or to cripple smaller ships, has no special materials, 15m range, size of PIFP-2

SFP-2: another early gen shock fracture warhead, designed as a means to combat defense stations, 30m range, requires a "Seismic Core MKI"(half price of seismic core, buildable in normal assembler, but not basic), 3x3x1(aka PIFP-3 secondary variant)

SFP-3: you already know lmao, used in cruise missiles often, 50m range, requires Logic Isolation Unit, and a Seismic Core MKI, 5x5x2/3x3x7

idk i got bored, these are entirely optional and will basically serve as the cheaper more early game option to PIFP's

Thank you all for the feedback and comments! I've updated the mod with some new additions that should balance out the criminal power of these warheads. To top off, I'm currently working on my next project which is warheads again lol but this time inspired by suggestions and input from the comments!

Cheapfrag, depends. I can see this being a countermeasure to being chased. Deploy several small versions of these with a 3-5 second delay and anyone following you will have to peel off and go around or risk being ripped to shreds by debris. It could also act as a defense to enemy fire, and finally if the debris keeps the inertia of the original grid it triggers from it can also be used to pelt enemy ships or an area though i think this is the least likely to be useful.

very cinematic - cant really see this being used in a normal PvP setting, but to shoot video sequences, this is awesome.
That said, if warhead like this were the norm, missile defence would be priority 1 and it might be OK-ish.
Larger fragments will be more server friendly though - and have the added bonus that one might even recognise what (faction) ship it was when playing in a themed setting like Star Trek etc.

Also, a larger fragment version (10-ish rather than hundreds) could make for a great "doomed spawn" start (i.e. after some plot driven calamity takes the ship), with bits of ship raining down to a moon/planet as potential later salvage - if you can find your way to an escape pod in time...

@Pretty Little Psycho, @Patrick, Thank you for the feedback! I had overlooked the balance between the warhead sizes and its production methods and costs etc. I will update the mod soon which will significantly harden the process of creating the warheads!

Neat effect. Not even remotely balanced against vanilla warheads though. A good weapon mod should provide a choice for the player, not be a clear "always use this from now on."

With high speed dispersion of the fragments it doesn't need to delete the whole grid, it's essentially a frag round, it punches through the armour then the fragments shred what's left.

Definitely needs smaller scale detonation, although not sure how you will manage to only delete a portion of a grid...

Echoing the fact this looks great, but the scale is way too large. The fact the smallest one can delete an entire ship is just way too overpowered, why use guns when you can just lob these at the ship and delete it in one go? Maybe remove a 0 from each range, then we may have something more balanced maybe?
