So it would seem any Civ can spend Faith on a Mormom Missionary unit, not too much an issue since Faith centered Civs don't use them.

As both a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints and someone who has a lot of ancestors from Utah and currently lives there... I LOVE THIS. Spot-on.

I agree that the tabenacle should replaace the shrine and not the temple, since we do have temples but not shrines per say.
Momo 20. okt. 2016 kl. 16:48
I just noted the hymn music is the beggining of loading up the game. Amazing job.
Omi-corn 22. sep. 2016 kl. 18:37
In my opinion, I think the tabernacle should replace the shrine.

Fixed, and added mod support
Momo 17. aug. 2016 kl. 8:26
There's a typo on the screen when you start up. It says "Your missionaries are known throughout the workd" But GREAT job. I really liked it and thanks for the effort you put into it for making it accurate! :)

Great mod, is it just me, or can any civ make mormon missionaries?

You are welcome, enjoy!

This Mod is an amazing religous-expansionist civ. If you reduce the cost of faith purchases, you can swarm Mormon missionaries at 160 faith which do not count against population growth like settlers and who also have your religon present. Fantastic at religous domination. Towards the mid-game, I found Utah really shrines if you couple their natural strengths with the Theology tech wonders. Overall, really enjoyed this mod and it pairs well with Extra Victory Conditions (religous).

I totally understand. No need to rush yourself.
calcul8or  [ophavsmand] 4. dec. 2014 kl. 20:04
Thanks for the comment. Georgia and Texas have been popular requests. haven't had much time for modding lately, though. As for the states chosen, some have been special requests and some have intrigued me.
Nagatoro Feet Worshiper 4. dec. 2014 kl. 17:06
Judging from comments on past state mods, Georgia seems to be pretty highly requested. I feel like that's a far more relevant state than many states done thus far and would be a good idea to do in the future.

@nomadbrad - I haven't decided yet to make the change

@calcul8or No worries. I wasn't criticizing; just trying to help. ;)
Mojave Neon 18. nov. 2014 kl. 18:26
Eh, they were much more of a peaceful, expansionist civ than a violent, manipulative, invasive group. The Mountain Meadows massacre was an attrocity for sure, but it was a very uncharacteristic one, carried out by a party that was pretty isolated from headquarters. Little know fact, Brigham Young sent a messenger down there forbidding them from attacking the wagon train, and demanded that they let them pass through peacefully. The messenger got there a couple days too late though, after the massacre had occurred. The leaders of the massacre were arrested, and some were executed. In addition, the Mormons had much more peaceful relations overall with the Native American groups in the West than the other groups of settlers did. Overall, they would most accurately be described as a peace driven civ.
Gyrebox 17. nov. 2014 kl. 18:45
Fair enough.
calcul8or  [ophavsmand] 17. nov. 2014 kl. 17:50
@Gyrebox - if you've looked at my Workshop, you'll see I've done several US states- - Utah makes 15 or 16, I forget exactly how many. For the leader, I've tried to pick someone that was influential from the state, particularly in its founding. Brigham Young was the leader of the non-native people that settled Utah, so he gets the nod as leader. As to your other comments, many of the civs in the base game could also be called "invasive, manipulative, and violent". The history of many of our states has black marks, too. In my civs I've chosen to highlight the unique things that define them. Good or bad, Utah was founded by a religious community so the civ representation of them is focused on religion. In no way was this an attempt to blur ethnicity, religion, or race. In the end it's an optional component to a game - if it offends anyone, don't download and play it.
Gyrebox 16. nov. 2014 kl. 21:10
I find it interesting even though it is not a culture but a religion that brigham young is the leader and not joseph smith. Why is that?
Gyrebox 16. nov. 2014 kl. 20:27
The capitalization is a reflection on how much recognition I would give as an actual ligitimate group of peoples. Considering the game has a place and function for religion and not an actual christian or jewish or muslim or pagan civ choice. Religion is a personal choice not a defining genetic characteristic. Ethnicity, race, and religion are three different things. I am sorry if the truth of a group of people offends you but it happened. I also acknoledge the happenings of all the other recorded histories of different human cultures as you have given examples of in your response ruhrgebietheld. The reason I mentioned it was to possibly give a more accurate representation of the civ in the game. They are not a peace driven or expansionist group in history but could be considered invasive, manipulative and violent group. Thanks for your reply and consideration.
Beckerist_Leader 15. nov. 2014 kl. 16:49
Hey the real name is the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints
calcul8or  [ophavsmand] 15. nov. 2014 kl. 7:33
Sorry, Gyrebox, I gotts agree with ruhrgiebtheld. Any civ you choose will likely have skeletons in the closet.
Mojave Neon 14. nov. 2014 kl. 13:47
Gyrebox, why on earth would that be included in this mod? There's nothing about concentration camps in the German civ, nothing about the Rape of Nanking in the Japanese Civ, nothing about the Trail of Tears in the US civ, nothing about mass genocide in the Russian civ, nothing about ethnic cleansing in the Ottoman civ, nothing about the starvation of millions in the Chinese civ, etc. Such things don't really have a place in the game. Oh, and they're called Mormons, not mormans.
Gyrebox 13. nov. 2014 kl. 19:39
Lesser known fact of the morman activity in history.
Gyrebox 13. nov. 2014 kl. 19:38
Is the mountain meadows massacre included in this at all because it should be included for accurate historical reference.http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Mountain_Meadows_massacre .
calcul8or  [ophavsmand] 13. nov. 2014 kl. 17:09
@Mihai - Will post an update tonight. All but one of the incorrect uses of "Latter-day" came straight from wikipedia....
mihscr 13. nov. 2014 kl. 15:46
PS - I can help you with some other grammar/writing stuff, if you will.
mihscr 13. nov. 2014 kl. 15:44
Content feedback: "Latter Day Saint(s)" should be spelled "Latter-day Saint". Latter + day form a complex adjective united by a hyphen (e.g., well-known person, five-year-old boy). Plus, it's the official spelling of everything latter-day.

I forgot Kill Devil Hills and the "first flight"!

@CarolinaCalling - good insights, thanks. It helps to have local input
Carolina Calling 11. nov. 2014 kl. 14:21
@the rotmeister's dedication to a North Carolina Civ is notable. If doing NC, please consider some of the following: Virginia Dare, Croatan, the 1799 NC gold rush (1st in ConUS; started by 17 lb (7.7 kg) nugget!), the Cherokee (and their written language), the Minié "ball" firing British Pattern 1853 Enfield rifled musket, the part Universities play in NC. UNC is the first state sponsored university. Please consider Zebulon Baird Vance (1830-1894) as leader. (He's the only Confederate governor that didn't declare martial law during the the War of Southern Rebelion/Northern Aggression . :)

calcula8or,
I have all of your State mods installed and Enabled, and If this isn't from you I apologize, But where there any updates to any of your state mods recently, as I did update my mods yesterday, and if so, I'm having issues with three things, One there's a thing on the diplo screen aying TXT_Technologies_ something else, two there's this massive space under technologies, 3 I cant click the acept embassy buttn, as in it won't show up when, I click it. If this, once again if there were no updates recently, I apologize, if there were please fix this.
calcul8or  [ophavsmand] 10. nov. 2014 kl. 16:54
@rotmeister - musketman or rifleman? I was thinking rifleman was more in keeping historically, but I could go either way
The Flagmaster 10. nov. 2014 kl. 12:07
for your next states mod do north carolina you could add in a "tarheel" as a replacement for the musket man and reuse the minutemen model
calcul8or  [ophavsmand] 9. nov. 2014 kl. 8:53
@mav12222 - good catch, it was the first plan for a UB and I swapped it out for something else (I forget if it was the Tycoon or Ellis Island). I'm working on adding music but not much time this weekend
mav12222 9. nov. 2014 kl. 8:48
@calcul8or I was also looking through the NY mod files (I wanted to switch around some city names for personal use) and noticed theres an unused wall street file ( I guess its supposed to replace the stock exchange but was never included)
calcul8or  [ophavsmand] 8. nov. 2014 kl. 16:12
@the rotmeister - I gotta say, I admire your dedication
calcul8or  [ophavsmand] 8. nov. 2014 kl. 15:52
@ruhrgebietheld - thanks for the comment, good suggestion. I worked on this on and off for a long time, and "Utah Missionary" was a placeholder name. I'll have to update it
Mojave Neon 8. nov. 2014 kl. 15:50
Hmm, interesting. There's already a Deseret mod civ out there with Brigham Young as its leader and a huge focus on religion. This one's religious focus is slightly different than that one's, so it will be interesting to see how this one plays compared to that one. Still, it would be nice if this one added a non-religious element or two (such as population growth or tourism, both hallmarks of the state). One thing I would advise changing is the name of the UU. Missionaries of the Mormon faith are not known as "Utah Missionaries". They are referred to as either Mormon missionaries or LDS missionaries (source, I was one).
