As an addon of original mod, I think I may need to keep the design same as original mod.

Anyway, I can give you method that you can change it by yourself if necessary.

go to your steam directory, open the file by any text editor
SteamLibrary\steamapps\workshop\content\281990\3337123939\interface\planet_view.gui

change the value of the line
from

The green-on-grey population statistics on the middle-left are a bit difficult to read. Could that background box be turned black, or could the numbers gain an outline, or something?

Low-contrast is difficult on my old eyes.

Otherwise I love this.
