I think SELF_PERPETUATING_TRAITS is missing the heretic trait for Akhetekan's (sp) legacy so the trait never levels up.

There appears to be an incompatibility with the Persistent Forts mod that leads to a crash either when you conquer a settlement before the fort, or during the AI's turn when used with this mod. I haven't been able to pin it down yet but I have done about 125 turns of testing today so far. X_x Anyone have any idea what might be up?

If you open up my mod's script in Notepad ++ or VScode, the fix is very simple if you want to disable this mechanic. Just search for the "SELF_PERPETUATING_TRAITS" table, and reduce the chance to 0%.

@Mingles The issue is that a lot of the traits (both positive and negative) are "self-perpetuating." This means that once you acquire one, every turn it has a small (1-4%) chance to level up to the next tier. This mechanic right down to the % chance was ripped 1-to-1 from Medieval 2 and Attila. I've already nerfed their chances to self-perpetuate even lower since release. When I come back to Pharaoh eventually I will look into them again. Thank you for the feedback.

this REALLY needs an update all my generals are blind and lame and i know the triggers. A lot don't make sense and the bad traits need to be toned down DRASTICALLY

Some of these traits need to be looked into. One of my generals just received the Questionable trait, even though the province he's in has no gold producing regions.

A suggestion - change "Attacking Victory / Defeat" to "Confident Attacker / Unsure Attacker" so it sounds more like other traits (i.e. adjectives).

UPDATE:

- Nerfed Poor Disciplinarian, and Profane chances based on user feedback.
- Cuckold now requires the character to be in enemy territory for at least 10 turns before it has a chance to trigger.
- Spending time outside of settlements no longer has a chance to trigger Poor Disciplinarian.

This mod is really bad. It turned my ramesses campaign into a mess. Everyone ended being called "Perverse", "Drunkard" or "Gambler".
+ 20 traits is way to much unless you re ready to spend your time solving + and - bonuses with your calculator to understand why your general is caped in presence, etc

I like this mod, I think it adds some much needed flavor to this game. I just think this mod needs more tweaking. The spawn rate for traits is pretty arbitrary and more often than not everyone is profane/corrupt or terrible at discipline

Bug with disciplinarian/lenient - I've done nothing but be in enemy territory raiding, ambushing, one time I set up a camp, and I'm already tier 2 negative lenient. It's a pretty substantial debuff with extra unit upkeep and bad morale. This one seems bugged to me. Agree that there needs to be some reasonable counter play for these.

Cool idea but terrible implementation. Spawn rates for traits are all over the place. Profane has no counter so everyone gets its eventually from just...being out on campaign in a game about military campaigns. Meanwhile every general to take a settlement and garrison it right after to replenish troops...gets Poor Disciplinarian. However you can't swing it back so you're forever forced to never garrison any general of value or else you'll eventually the strongest debuff trait in the game.

Honestly not worth the good aspects unless the author takes a second pass and fixes the bugs.

By chance do you know how to change fraction leaders backgrounds? Trying to change characters like Hector and Achilles from having generic backgrounds. I noticed the main fraction leaders get a few extra attributes on level 1 because of their background give them an edge over minor fraction leaders.

Cuckhold needs a rethink, IMO. Being in foreign territory is a general's job, Achilles has cuckhold at level 2 and -50% childbirth chance after just a few turns.

wow best mod here, just a small thing you dont mention here the fact you also fixed base traits or how they unlock, like cowardly/brave

im sure there would be a reason, but the only thing to make this perfect is to be able to see all of them in game like the base traits are shown before you unlock them, or at least some of the main traits
