Yes, it is compatible with pre-existing saves, but it is not recommended to remove it in the middle of the game.

Holy crap yes! Raids should be a thing for EVERYBODY. It's how war was mostly waged other than sieges in medieval Western Europe. Makes no sense to restrict it to just Iberia.
