Sorry to hear that, that must be very confusing!
This addon only has an effect when it is installed, so it must mean that another addon or issue is causing this to happen, I hope you are able to get it fixed.
This addon works for "env_laser" entities, which is included in Garry's Mod, so if an addon isn't compatable; it might be using it's own laser system or apply modifications to the laser entity causing this addon to ignore them.

I believe I know a way to add light to an explosion, I will likely try to make an addon like that soon, and upload it if I am successful.
How do you like the idea of implementing something like this for fire or explosions?
