I have no idea how it would affect performance, but you could fix it by adding a "health" value to each limb, make models appear on certain thresholds thus fixing the caliber issue too (damage += caliber * baseHitValue)

I was wondering if, by chance, you could disable this on certain 'entities'. It happens to look weird seeing Covenant Shangehli turn into human gore, or same with Space Marines from TIOW2.
