Alright, the new LUA generation opened things up so the generated metals can now work seamlessly in the main mod, rather than being a weird side-loaded thing. Note this is only for divine metals, not cloth or other generated materials.

An update for compatibility with the dye update. Metallic colors in the dye menu now have names.

The color pallets here look great. I been using this mod for a while, but im gonna have to remove it from my modlist due to being outdated. im sad.

I don't know if you are still supporting this mod and/or even able to do anything about this, but I think it's worth mentioning that the dye mixing in 52.03 doesn't play nicely with the palette changes, and there are a bunch of erroneous options to mix colors with blank names. The changes to the metal palletes are really pretty though!

Some day, I will get these awesome metal colors and other mods can modify the pallet and color for their own tiles and sprites the mod pertains to.

But Alas I am done whine & pining.

There was a problem with updating saves from v0.4 to v0.7 that has been resolved as of v0.8. If anyone experiences issues upgrading, please let me know.

@moon The mod works by modifying the palettes used by the metals, so it is kinda all or nothing. It is easy to disable the mod for specific metals though by removing the STATE_COLOR from the appropriate entry in inorganic_metallic.txt.

I love the metal bar symbols, but the metal floor colors don't match the aesthetic of my fort. Is there a way I can remove this part of the mod from my current fortress?

Despite the fact that my sprites won't/can't be used, I decided to make colors for ALL 130 spheres. Just for the hell of it. I might do the divine fabrics too, not sure yet.

@Zippy Those are some cool colors. Unfortunately there are technical limitations around the generated metals that I don't think I can solve. Looking at the binary string-dump, the text for the colors are hard-coded, and the game keys off of those for the palette data. Trying to do it via direct sprites is impossible because the material-IDs are random.

The only way I was able to make it work was by writing out the raws for all the divine metals explicitly, and then disabling the "generated materials" option in worldgen. This method does work, but relies on the user to make specific adjustments to advanced worldgen, among other unfortunate hazards.

If I pursue this, it will be as an optional setting you have to manually enable - I really don't want to break people's saves.

Generated metals are unfortunately stuck as grey due to a bug: http://www.bay12forums.com/smf/index.php?topic=169696.msg8492899#msg8492899

It is possible to monkey with METAL_TEMPLATE to give *all* the generated metals one shared palette as a hack. Might be better than just leaving them as flat-grey.

@avk: It might be nice, but I think there are enough different stone-types to overflow the maximum palette-limit. I was considering taking a crack at the ores though.

Yeah, it change the floors like in the preview. The floors take the colors from the palette used by the metal anyways.
