@Kagami_sama — no not possible at this time. That would be awesome, but the game is pretty locked down.

Same with character animations. Can’t have gifs/mp4… we have to use outputs from a 2D animation software suite called Spine. Costs $$$ and needs a lot of animation skills.

Im just gonna ask, author of this mod would probably know. Is it all possible to make those images animated? can a game even suport files with animation? gifs/webms/mp4?

Added "refreshed" components and planetary facilities from new DLC. I'm leaving the Events images alone. They feature the new races prominently and are fine enough.

Works fine with new DLC, but the added assets haven't been "refreshed" yet :D Working on that.

@Bruce Wayne -- XL incorporates some (but not all) of this mod (the events images are only available in this mod). If you are using XL with this mod, be sure to load this mod before XL. Load XL after this mod.

xl compatible?

The pictures seem to revert back to normal when loading into a game where they worked when it was first loaded up for me. Any idea whats happening?

It works on the steam deck ayy... at first it seemed not to want to launch with this specific mod, but now runs awesome 700 stars 6x6

You are a star :)

@sana[PP] -- XL incorporates a lot of this mod, but not all of it (my events pics are different). If you load XL after this mod, it will overwrite all the things it needs to keep XL appearing as it should

xl already contains this?

@Iron Dice -- Thank you! This one took the most time. Whew! About 350 pics. Luckily, DLC will just add little bits here and there, so updating shouldn't be too nuts.

Love your stuff; keep em coming!

@ZumZoom -- That is a nice idea. I'll take a look. Part of the issue is the UI icon is so super tiny. But yeah an outline could work.

@andres r -- I am working on it :) I'm running limitations, though. DW2 uses the 2D animation program Spine for all its portraits. They don't let us do still images at the moment. There are some workarounds, but it involves installing the mod locally (not using Steam Workshop)...so the end-user experience is still a little rough.

Please make a refreshed races/portraits mod! The original race graphics seriously bad.

Great mod!:steamthis: I have a small critique though. Planetary facility icons feel less distinct than vanilla ones - I'm having trouble recognizing what facility it is at a glance. Could be because I only played one campaign with this mod (40 hours or so). I guess this is inevitable when the picture is more detailed and colorful.
Would be cool if it were possible to add differently colored outlines to icons perhaps (depending on the type of facility - defence, development, etc).

Thanks

Hey @pyrobow!

At this point I mainly use Midjourney (v6, especially). I was dabbling in Stable Diffusion and a platform called Scenario, but ended up getting the best results from Midjourney. Adobe's Firefly looks really good, but I don't have the paid subscription.

I also use Background.bg to help me remove backgrounds. Technically that's AI too.

Then I use more normal photo editing software to add any overlays, tweak colors, get the right resolutions.

Out of interest, what generative AI/programs did you use?
