GoingBatty: I have the IMC Operator that is designed for mining .. comes with mining drone .. not THAT automated though :)

Another Idea is a high tech mining transport, with fabrication station,. Plus two small mining drones called resource collectors when activated, undock, zoom off screen, then despawn for to minutes. the ship has holographic counter the counts down till the resource collectors come back and dock. the drone bay automaticly loads the resources into a big box that npc's can store for you.

The sub should be beginner and intermediate player friendly. Maybe name it the IMC Otter
